In addition to our direct collection of information via the newsletter form, this site runs on a content management system (WordPress) and uses Fathom analytics for tracking site visits.
It uses MailChimp for the newsletter and JetPack from WordPress to extend the site’s functions. The site also allows users to leave comments by logging into social media services like Facebook and Twitter. Images and videos may require the use of a content delivery network to speed up the loading time of the site – where the images are stored and served on a third-party server.
These are the “third parties” and “vendors” we will refer to from here on out, although they may include other services or change third-party services. We do not control how these third parties use such information, but we do ask them to disclose how they use personal information provided to them from Visitors. Some of these third parties may be intermediaries that act solely as links in the distribution chain and do not store, retain, or use the information given to them.
We want to process as little personal information as possible when you use our website. That’s why we’ve chosen Fathom Analytics for our website analytics, which doesn’t use cookies and complies with the GDPR, ePrivacy (including PECR), COPPA and CCPA. Using this privacy-friendly website analytics software, your IP address is only briefly processed, and we (running this website) have no way of identifying you. The purpose of our using this software is to understand our website traffic in the most privacy-friendly way possible so that we can continually improve our website. We provide Visitors and Authorized Customers with a mechanism to delete/deactivate Personally Identifiable Information from our email newsletter by choosing the option to do so at the bottom of their newsletter. The only other way this site has of collecting personally identifiable information is via comments or likes. If you would like to delete a comment or like, you can do by logging into WordPress or the social media account you used to create the comment and by deleting it.
However, because of backups and records of deletions, it may be impossible to delete a Visitor’s entry without retaining some residual information either in a backed-up version of our site, or on the social media servers. An individual who requests to have Personally Identifiable Information deactivated will have this information functionally deleted, and we will not transfer, or use Personally Identifiable Information relating to that individual in any way moving forward.
What happens if the Privacy Policy Changes?
We will let our Visitors know about changes to our privacy policy by posting such changes on the Site. However, if we are changing our privacy policy in a manner that might cause disclosure of Personally Identifiable Information that a Visitor or Authorized Customer has previously requested not be disclosed, we will contact such Visitor to allow such Visitor to prevent such disclosure.
